Eulogies for dead cats. The rising price of Freddos. Ballerinas made of kebab meat.
These are the riotous, strange and sometimes tender words of T.S. IDIOT, a poet once deemed to be in very poor taste by their hometown council. These are words on queerness, on class, on love and loss and whatever else we find congealed in the cracks of every day life. These words are to laugh at. These words are to shout and cry at. These words are for you. T.S. IDIOT is a performer who looks at pop history's margins to embrace and mock modern life in equal measures. They look to the junkies, the jokers and the bent and abandoned for inspiration and solace. They have warmed up crowds for the likes of John Cooper Clarke and Attila The Stockbroker, as well as DIY punk shows and queer cabaret nights across the UK. They believe that the values of punk can be a transformative and powerful vehicle for social change. Their chaotic life's work spans poetry, short fiction, live performance, film and theatre - some of which has been made for BBC Arts, Tate St Ives, Raise The Bar, Bristol Museum, Apples & Snakes and 1020 Radio. They have self-released two zines, SPIT & MARGARINE (2020) and THE PROTEST POET'S HANDBOOK (2022) and their poems and short stories have been published by Perennial Press, Clav Mag, Global Youth Review, Orange Blush, Revolv, The Bitchin' Kitsch, Sassify, Howling Press, Velvet Fields, Unicorn Magazine, Queerlings and HUCK. Their debut collection BACK TO THE FUCHSIA will be appearing in bookshelves and prophetic visions in 2023. As society slowly collapses, T.S. IDIOT has been writing #pandemicpoems, stories and short films, developing live performances and making DIY theatre for communities and young people. They want you to know that they love you and that everything's going to be ok. |
"A spoken word phenomena" - Voice Magazine
"Lighthearted but bittersweet" - Fringe Review "Rambunctious and moving" - Milk Poetry "A proper punk" - Glen Matlock (Sex Pistols) "Skillfully disobedient" - Pete The Temp "A performer that resonates with everyone's experience" - Revolv "Angry, playful and heartfully earnest" - The Friday Poem "Weird stuff... a cross between Suicide and John Cooper Clarke" - Attila The Stockbroker "Rhythmical and exhilarating, they force you to read aloud" - Taproot Press "I thought I was going to get hypnotised" - Kerry Katona (Wheel of Misfortune) "I’m so in love with their style, their way onto the stage and into people’s memories just by simply being themsleves. They have something that I look for in my favourite artists - no reserve but fear, fear that they channel and command in their work to bring authenticity into their utter nonsense." - Bridget Hart (For Books' Sake / Burning Eye)
